Clinic Philosophy
At Apsley Veterinary Services, we believe practicing medicine and business with a high standard is the key to success. We also believe it is through the thoughtful and supportive treatment of others (staff and clients) that a practice may grow to be happy and subsequently successful. In the process of providing our services, we will treat our clients, their pets and our staff in a friendly, professional, ethical, compassionate and supportive manner. We acknowledge that each person deals with the illness or death of a pet differently. As such, we will approach every situation with compassion and empathy first.
While we understand that we cannot make every person that walks through the doors happy, we will endeavor to make 99.9% of them happy and perpetuate an excellent reputation in the community. We will go the extra mile for others and follow through on our commitments. Excellent communication will be expected at all times, both with our clients and within our team. We will “under-promise and over-deliver”. We will endeavor to be active in the community, taking the opportunity to give back to those who allow us our livelihood. We believe that “together” professionals provide the best medical care for their patients. As such, we will seek to broker positive relationships with neighboring practices, veterinary specialists and emergency clinics and be respectful of their different styles of care. In order to provide a professional and motivating environment at AVS, we believe communication and teamwork is essential. Therefore, we encourage all staff to pursue continuing education both on their own, and with our help.
Company History
We are a full-service small animal hospital that has been serving the Apsley area since 2009. Dr. Maegan Melillo purchased the practice in October 2019. She brought along the Practice Manager she worked with at another practice. Dr. Melillo graduated in 2014 from the Ontario Veterinary College and brings 20 years of experience in small animal clinical practice, working nearly every position a clinic has to offer. She holds a B.Sc. Hons. (Animal Science), and a D.V.M from the University of Guelph. Stephanie Greve and Dr. Melillo have worked together for 5 years. Stephanie graduated from Mohawk College with her Veterinary Office Management certificate. She started in the veterinary industry as a client service representative and knew she wanted to further her career in veterinary medicine.
